Is there a Tesla robotaxi in Phoenix?
Not for paying riders. Waymo is the driverless service already in Phoenix. Tesla has permits and has prepared the metro. There is no Tesla Robotaxi price in the Valley today.

Short answers. No booking. No Tesla affiliation.

Waymo is live here. Tesla Robotaxi is not. When Tesla opens, it will be a different app and a different car. Maricopa Robotaxi is neither company. We are a local owner planning to put cars on a network if that is allowed.
No public date we can treat as a promise. Tesla has named the greater Phoenix area in first-responder and permit material, including Scottsdale and Mesa. Until the app sells rides here, treat every date as a rumor.
Tesla has talked about privately owned cars earning on its network. Details, timing, and who gets cars first are not public. That is the reason this company exists. It is not a product you can order this week.
As described so far: you own the vehicle, Tesla’s network takes the ride request, the car earns when it is in a live geofence. Insurance, depots, and Arizona operating rules sit on the owner. Tesla has not published a Phoenix owner handbook.
Airport runs are the obvious Valley use. Waymo already covers much of that demand. A Tesla or independent fleet at PHX only matters after the network and airport rules say yes. We are not taking those trips today.
Waste Management Open, spring training, bowl games — Scottsdale and Phoenix fill up and human-driver apps surge. That is when a cheap unsupervised car would matter. It is also when a small fleet disappears. No one should plan an Open week on a service that is not live.
An independent Arizona owner-operator forming a local fleet for Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, and the rest of Maricopa County. Not Tesla. Not a booking app. Email if you want a note when that changes.
Yes, in the cities where both already run. Tesla Robotaxi has been coming in under Waymo on the same trip — sometimes by a little, sometimes by a lot. Waymo prices like a premium product. Tesla is the cheaper unsupervised car.
You do not tip a Tesla robotaxi. In Austin, Waymo is often billed as UberX, so the app fare can look close until you add the tip Uber still trains people to leave. Keep the tip and Tesla pulls ahead again.
Phoenix has no Tesla fare yet. When it does, watch Austin: Tesla cheaper, no tip.
Tesla Robotaxi has usually been the low number against Uber and Lyft on published Texas checks. One bank study put Tesla about 20% under those three on sampled routes. Rider quotes in Austin have shown Tesla well under Uber once the tip is counted.
Uber and Lyft still surge. They still expect 15–20%. A robotaxi does not. That gap is the point.
Fares move when the fleet is small and every car is busy. Across the checks that are public, Tesla is still the cheaper ride. There is no Tesla robotaxi price in Phoenix today. maricoparobotaxi@gmail.com
This ride is in Austin. The steps are the same anywhere Tesla actually runs the network. Phoenix is not live.
You open Tesla’s Robotaxi app, request the car, it pulls up, you get in, it drives, you get out. Two seats. No steering wheel. No tip.
Maricopa Robotaxi does not operate that app. We are a local fleet in formation for when the Valley is on the map.
Tesla’s public FSD counter is about 14.9 billion supervised miles, heading for 15 billion around the end of September 2026. A human is still in the car and still responsible.
Waymo’s own September 2026 safety post put fully driverless miles at 271 million through June 2026. That is the right Waymo number. Older “200 million” headlines are stale.
Supervised Tesla miles are about 55 times Waymo’s driverless miles. They are not the same mile. Waymo already sells about 500,000 paid driverless rides a week.
A chart going around puts Tesla FSD at one collision every 1.86 million miles, Waymo at 1.49 million, and a U.S. human driver at 265,000. On those published claims, both beat a human driver, and the Tesla supervised figure is the longer gap.
Read the labels. Tesla’s number is supervised FSD, with a person still responsible. Waymo’s number is driverless. “Collision” is not the same definition in each row, so this is not a final ranking. It is the comparison people are posting.
From 15 billion around September 30, 2026, another 5 billion miles at the recent pace of about 34.5 million miles a day lands near mid-February 2027. Holding 20 billion to March 2027 means the daily rate cools off a little. If the curve keeps speeding up, March is higher than 20 billion.
Maricopa Robotaxi is an independent Arizona company. It is not Tesla, Inc., not affiliated with Tesla, and not an official Tesla Robotaxi page. Service is not currently available.
